With Satechi’s USB-C Hub That Charges Six Devices Simultaneously, You Can Do Away With Power Adapters From Your Desk.

It can even charge a MacBook Pro thanks to a single port’s maximum output of 140W.

In the beginning, USB was intended to be the universal connector for connecting and charging devices, but when it was split into mini and micro versions, things became complicated once again. With everything from laptops to smartphones using the same connection thanks to USB-C, we can now benefit from unified charging options like Satechi’s new 200W 6-Port PD GaN Charger, which will do away of power warts from your desk.

There’s a good chance that you already use a multi-port USB-C charging solution to keep your smartphone, smartwatch, and other smaller devices charged, but since it probably won’t provide enough juice for a laptop as well, there’s probably another wall wart clogging an outlet or a power strip somewhere near your desk.

Wall warts won’t go away any time soon, but Satechi’s new USB-C multi-charger, which uses Gallium Nitride technology to simultaneously charge six USB-C devices, may at least make your desk seem a bit cleaner. While a laptop is attached, the charger automatically distributes the remaining 200W of available power among the other four USB-C PD 3.0 ports. Two of the ports are USB-C PD 3.1 and can give 140W to a device like a laptop.

The Satechi 200W 6-Port PD GaN Charger will cost $150 when it becomes available sometime in the second quarter of 2023. Anker’s 150W GaNPrime 747 Charger costs $110 and has three USB-C ports, but it can only give 100W of power to each device. Apple’s own 140W charging brick for the MacBook Pro costs $100 and only has one USB-C connection. For $40 extra, Satechi’s solution can support twice as many devices while also maximising the power requirements of a MacBook Pro.
